Diving into Phantom history and meaning with Broadway star Ron Bohmer

In this weeks Phantom of the Opera special we dive even deeper into the world of Phantom: discussing the original Gaston Leroux novel, the Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical as well as the Kopit and Yeston production and the character and psyche of Erik himself with Broadway star Ron Bohmer.

Ron Bohmer was the Phantom in the first American tour, where he met his current wife Sandra Joseph who was his Christine in the production. Ron also performed the role of “Erik” in the Arthur Kopit and Maury Yeston version of “Phantom”.

Next to his various Phantom incarnations Ron is also known for his leading roles both on Broadway and touring productions in: Scarlet Pimpernel, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard, The Woman in White, Sunday in the Park with George, Les Miserables, A Little Night Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Book of Mormon and many more. More recently Ron and Sandra use their Phantom history in their keynote speeches where they speak and sing about overcoming obstacles, dropping the “mask”, and practicing presence over perfection.

Next to our Phantom discussion we  talk about the beauty of Aspects of Love and Sunday in the Park with George, working on Scarlet Pimpernel and much more.
